Bosnia & Herzegovina packed with adventure!

This is exactly where we had the most adventures — Bosnia and Herzegovina. Come along for video clips from a short but packed TET stretch: from Mostar in Bosnia all the way to the Montenegrin border.

This is no cream puff

The off-road stretch of the Bosnian TET, the climb after Mostar, is no cream puff. Loose stones, tight switchbacks, drop-offs, steep descents and climbs — that is the short version.

But the views, and the satisfaction after getting through the worst section, paid back the effort, the sweat, and the ache. It got stressful at times, but more on that later.

The higher we climbed, the more it turned into a mountain desert. Now and then a lizard was the only thing to cross the track. For most of the route we passed nobody, and heat pushing 40°C drained our hydration bladders fast, forcing frequent stops in the shade of the trees. We only met living souls again on the lower stretches, trading either stories or a hello wave #lwg

Wild camping at Lake Orlovačko

You lie there. Eyes wide open, but everything around you is dark. Your hearing sharpens and your imagination takes off. Something is out there. Something, or someone. You lift your head. You listen. You sit up. That something is coming toward your tent. Sniffing. Your heart suddenly kicks up, adrenaline hits. You switch on the torch and follow it with your eyes. You see it! It is moving. You hear it snort, pressing its nostrils against the tent wall. A hard rustle and...

Wait. It is only your tent roommate, travel and adventure companion, aka husband, who scraped his foot against the tent wall🙈

That is how my first night of wild camping looked 🏕️

So... let's not get carried away by imagination. What finally helped me was covering my ears — recommended 👍🏻

Ah... BTW, as if that were not enough. On the other side of the lake someone else had pitched tents too. Close to midnight, shots rang out. First five, one after another. Then one more. And that was no longer happening in the realm of imagination… but more on that another time.
